Yeast Dough Yogis

A yummi yogi fan, Andrea from Texas, shows us that baking is not only about cookies . Andrea was kind enough to share her recipe and images of these fun yeast dough yogis. She baked them for a special event ; AFarewell-Party for our Dahn Yoga Master. We hope you try these too!

Recipes makes 20 yeast dough  yogis.

 

 

 

Ingredients:

8              cup  flour

2              tbsp sugar

5               tsp  dry yeast

1               pinch of salt

1/3            stick  butter

2               eggs

1               cup lukewarm milk

1               egg; beaten for brushing the figures before baking

5              Yummi Yogi cookie cutters

Steps:

Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl with a lid. Add the eggs. Heat the milk (I always put the butter in, too.) and when lukewarm pour it in the bowl. Mix (you might need more milk, but start out with a lesser amount and then add) until the dough is soft, but not sticky.

Let the dough rise for about an hour (more never hurts) in a warm place.

Divide the risen dough in two (I’ll keep the “second half” in the bowl with lid closed.), roll out the dough about ½ inch thick.

Cut your yoga dough figures using the Yummi Yogi cookie cutters.

Place the yoga dough figures  on a baking tray,

Brush them with the beaten egg. (Be careful not to spill egg on the tray, because then it becomes a workout to get the baked goods loose again!)

Bake at 350⁰ C for about 12 – 15 minutes (until golden brown).
