Simple living is nothing new — it has been practiced in some capacity for thousands of years. We all have “stuff” we find it particularly hard to let go of, like clothes we love but have outgrown or childhood mementos.

What you don’t hear about as often is the hard-to-break ideas and habits that can take a toll on you. Some of which you might have been carrying around for your entire life without realizing their true impact.

Here are just a few things you should let go of this spring to pave the way for a happier, healthier lifestyle.

Mistakes & Regrets

Holding on to mistakes and regrets can both be emotionally exhausting. The former is most often the result of taking an action, one that you think is wrong, while the latter could be the result of inaction.

The good news is? Both are forms of learning that allow you to make informed decisions moving forward. It’s best to focus on what you can do differently in the future instead of letting yourself get stuck in the past.

Comfort Zones

Your comfort zone is exactly what it sounds like — a place where you feel safe and in control. Unfortunately, never going beyond your comfort zone makes it extremely difficult to grow. And no matter what you decide to do (or not do), the world is going to keep changing.

You might even find that you won’t discover what you’re truly passionate about until you test the waters. Start small and ease into something that inspires you. You know my top two — yoga and baking 😉

“Keeping Up with the Joneses”

The idea that you always have to have the next best thing to “fit in” can be an emotional burden. In fact, it’s simple belongings that you use on a daily basis that will bring you the most fulfillment. Why? These items serve a purpose, sometimes even more than one.

Just take a look at one of my favorite creations — Yummi Yogi™ reusable gift bags. They store all of my go-to products and make it that much easier to share my passions with the world.

The short version? There is no cookie-cutter approach to a perfect lifestyle. Make time to explore and do things that make you happy and let go of the thoughts and perspectives weighing you down.

You won’t regret it!
